Each time I speak, I'm fully aware of the fact that I need God's help. As I was driving to the forum, I prayed, "Lord, I'm just a weak vessel, but I know You're with me and will show me what to say. Your power is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)." I also confessed John 15:5 and said, "God, apart from you, I can do nothing."
Those two verses are on my mind again this afternoon as I prepare for my juice fast, which begins tomorrow. I haven't had much time to prepare physically or spiritually. Ideally, I should have eased into it by eating more raw foods and cutting back on foods that are more difficult to digest. I did neither. This weekend, we had a big birthday party at my mom's house for my daughters and niece, and yes, I had some cake and ice cream. :) This fast will be a MAJOR shock to my body!
I'm ready, though. Ready to draw near to God and experience the joy of His presence. I'm thankful that my husband will be joining me. The last time we did a juice fast together was January 2009, and I have seen God do miraculous things in our lives as a result. First, we saw both of our daughters come to know the Lord that year. Second, I believe that the time Justin and I spent praying and fasting laid the foundation for the publication of my book, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast. These are just two examples of the many ways God has rewarded us for seeking Him.
Some of you have committed to doing the juice fast with us. Others plan will be participating in a smoothie fast instead. I'm excited to see how God moves in all of our lives as we set aside our fleshly desires and hunger for the Lord and His ways.
